Triangle & Fourchette
Two rare and demanding intimate piercings — only with suitable anatomy
Consultation Required
Both the triangle and fourchette piercing require an individual anatomical assessment before the procedure. These piercings are only performed after a positive evaluation by our experienced piercers.

What Is the Triangle Piercing?
The triangle piercing is one of the rarest and technically most demanding intimate piercings for women. It runs horizontally at the base of the clitoral hood and passes through the tissue directly behind the clitoris (posterior to the corpus clitoridis). The needle passes through the deep tissue beneath the clitoral hood from one side to the other.
The name derives from the triangular tissue structure that becomes visible when the clitoral hood is retracted. The jewelry — typically a curved barbell or ring — sits directly beneath the clitoris and can create a deep, indirect stimulation of the clitoris from the underside during movement.
Unlike the vertical clitoral hood piercing (VCH), which stimulates the clitoris from above, the triangle works from below and behind. Many wearers describe the resulting sensation as deeper and broader than with other intimate piercings.
Anatomical Requirements
The triangle piercing places strict anatomical requirements that are only met in a small percentage of women:
- Sufficient Tissue Depth: There must be enough tissue beneath the clitoral hood to safely guide the needle behind the clitoris without injuring it.
- Detachable Hood: The clitoral hood must be sufficiently separable from the underlying structure so that the piercer can correctly position the tissue.
- Symmetrical Anatomy: For even and safe placement, the anatomy in the clitoral hood area must be largely symmetrical.
Improper placement can lead to nerve damage. Therefore, the triangle is only pierced at XS Piercing by our most experienced professionals after thorough anatomical examination.
Healing & Care
The triangle piercing requires a longer healing time of 8 to 12 weeks due to the deeper tissue penetration. During this phase, the usual care recommendations for intimate piercings apply: clean daily with sterile saline solution, wear loose cotton underwear, sexual abstinence for at least 4 to 6 weeks, and no swimming or bathing in public waters.
Due to the deeper placement, the triangle is less prone to mechanical irritation from clothing than more superficial piercings. Nevertheless, any unnecessary stress should be avoided during the healing phase.
Fourchette Piercing

What Is the Fourchette Piercing?
The fourchette piercing is placed at the posterior edge of the vaginal opening (Commissura labiorum posterior, also called Frenulum labiorum pudendi) — where the inner labia meet at the posterior side. The name comes from the French word for «little fork» and describes the forking of the tissue at this location.
This piercing is primarily aesthetically motivated. Due to its placement at the exit of the vulva, it typically has no direct influence on clitoral stimulation. However, it can offer a pleasant additional sensation during intimate moments.
The fourchette is rarer than labia piercings, as not every anatomy features the necessary tissue fold at the posterior vaginal opening required for stable placement.
Anatomical Requirements
For the fourchette piercing, a sufficiently developed tissue fold (the so-called fourchette) must be present at the posterior vaginal opening. In many women, this tissue is very thin or insufficiently developed, making it impossible to place the piercing stably.
A simple test during the consultation reveals whether there is enough tissue to grip and pierce. If the tissue is too thin, there is an increased risk of:
- Tearing Out: Thin tissue can tear under mechanical stress.
- Rejection (Migration): The piercing can grow out over time.
- Irritation: Proximity to the vaginal opening increases the risk of mechanical irritation.
Healing & Care
The healing time for the fourchette piercing is typically 6 to 8 weeks. Due to its location at the posterior vaginal opening, particular care with hygiene is required:
- Clean daily with sterile saline solution
- Especially thorough intimate hygiene after using the toilet
- Sexual abstinence for at least 4 to 6 weeks
- Loose, breathable cotton underwear
- Avoid tampons in the first weeks (prefer pads)
- No swimming or bathing in public waters
Increased Care Required
The fourchette piercing is more susceptible to mechanical stress and contamination than other intimate piercings due to its location. Follow the care instructions especially diligently and contact us immediately if you notice signs of inflammation or unusual discomfort.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I find out if my anatomy is suitable for a triangle?
Suitability for a triangle piercing can only be determined through a personal anatomical examination. At XS Piercing, we offer free and non-binding consultation appointments where we discreetly assess your anatomy and honestly evaluate whether the piercing is possible and advisable for you.
Can I combine triangle and fourchette?
In principle, a combination is possible; however, we recommend not getting both piercings in the same session. It is advisable to let one piercing heal completely before getting the second one. This reduces the strain on the body and allows for better healing.
Why are these piercings so rare?
Both piercings require specific anatomical prerequisites that are only present in a small percentage of women. Additionally, they require high expertise and experience from the piercer, as misplacements can lead to serious complications. Reputable studios therefore only perform these piercings after thorough assessment.
How painful are triangle and fourchette?
At XS Piercing, both piercings are performed with local anesthesia, making the piercing process itself virtually pain-free. Without anesthesia, the triangle would be more intensely felt due to its proximity to the clitoris. The fourchette is generally perceived as less painful, as the tissue there is thinner.
