Important Notice
This piercing requires an individual consultation and anatomical assessment. The clitoris piercing is not to be confused with the far more common clitoral hood piercing (VCH/HCH). It is pierced directly through the clitoris and is only possible with specific anatomy. A personal consultation is mandatory.
Difference from the Clitoral Hood Piercing
One of the most common mix-ups in the world of intimate piercings concerns the difference between the clitoral hood piercing and the actual clitoris piercing. Although the names sound similar, they are fundamentally different piercings.
The clitoral hood piercing (VCH or HCH) only pierces the skin fold (Praeputium clitoridis) that covers the clitoris. It is widely available, heals quickly and is suitable for most women.
The clitoris piercing, on the other hand, goes directly through the clitoris itself (Glans clitoridis) — the most sensitive organ in the female body with one of the highest nerve cell densities. This piercing is extremely rare and is performed worldwide by only a few experienced piercers.
If you are considering an intimate piercing, in the vast majority of cases the clitoral hood piercing is the recommended and safer choice. Read more on our VCH/HCH page.
Anatomical Requirements
The clitoris piercing requires very specific anatomy that is only present in a small percentage of women. The clitoris (glans clitoridis) must meet the following criteria:
- Sufficient Size: The clitoris must be large enough to be safely pierced by a needle without damaging surrounding tissue or nerve pathways.
- Exposed / Protruding: The clitoris must protrude sufficiently from under the hood to be easily accessible. In many women, the clitoris is largely covered by the hood, making safe piercing impossible.
- Stable Tissue Structure: The tissue must be firm enough to permanently support the jewelry without tearing or tissue damage.
Many women are not suitable candidates for this piercing. This is not a deficiency, but simply a matter of individual anatomy. If suitability is insufficient, we recommend the clitoral hood piercing as an excellent and safe alternative.
Risks
Due to the extremely high nerve cell density of the clitoris — with over 8,000 nerve endings in a very small area — this piercing carries higher risks than most other body piercings:
- Nerve Damage: Imprecise placement can damage nerve pathways, which can lead to permanent loss of sensitivity, numbness or chronic pain. This damage is in many cases irreversible.
- Hypersensitivity: Some wearers report such an intense increase in sensation that it is perceived as unpleasant or painful — especially with direct contact or friction from clothing.
- Infection Risk: As with any piercing, there is a risk of infection, which however can have more serious consequences due to the anatomical location and high sensitivity of the tissue.
- Bleeding: The strong blood supply to the clitoris can lead to heavier bleeding during and after the procedure than with other piercings.
Only by Experienced Professionals
The clitoris piercing should only be performed by experienced piercers who have comprehensive knowledge of female intimate anatomy. At XS Piercing, this procedure is only carried out after thorough consultation and positive anatomical assessment.
Experiences
Wearers of a clitoris piercing typically report an extreme increase in sensitivity. The clitoris is already the most sensitive organ in the female body, and a piercing through this tissue further amplifies perception.
This intensification is experienced by some wearers as very positive and enriching. Others report, however, that the increased sensitivity can be too intense — especially during everyday activities such as walking, sitting or wearing certain clothing. In rare cases, this leads to the piercing being removed.
It is therefore essential that you receive thorough consultation before making a decision and have realistic expectations about the outcome. The experience is highly individual and cannot be generalized.
The Procedure at XS Piercing
Due to the uniqueness of this piercing, the procedure at XS Piercing is particularly thorough and carefully structured:
- Mandatory Initial Consultation: A detailed consultation including anatomical assessment is mandatory. This typically takes place at a separate appointment before the actual piercing appointment.
- Anatomical Suitability: The procedure is only carried out when anatomical prerequisites are clearly met. In cases of doubt, we honestly recommend alternatives.
- Local Anesthesia: Given the high sensitivity of the clitoris, local anesthesia is especially important for this procedure and is naturally included in the price.
- Precise Execution: The procedure is performed by our most experienced piercers with the highest precision and under sterile conditions.
- Aftercare: You receive detailed care instructions and are asked to contact us immediately in case of any complications.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does the clitoris piercing differ from the clitoral hood piercing?
The clitoral hood piercing (VCH/HCH) only pierces the protective skin fold over the clitoris. The clitoris piercing, on the other hand, goes directly through the clitoral tissue (glans clitoridis) itself. These are two fundamentally different piercings with different requirements, risks and sensations.
Why is this piercing so rare?
Only a very small percentage of women have the anatomical prerequisites for a clitoris piercing. The clitoris must be sufficiently large and exposed to be safely pierced. Additionally, the procedure requires the highest precision and experience, as there is a risk of nerve damage.
Can the clitoris piercing cause nerve damage?
If performed improperly, there is a real risk of nerve damage that can lead to permanent loss of sensitivity or chronic pain. For this reason, this piercing is only performed at XS Piercing after thorough anatomical assessment and detailed consultation — exclusively by our most experienced piercers.
